Film Openings- New Task!

Now i have finished my preliminary activity I am watching film openings to collect ideas for my final film. Some openings I am thinking of watching, as my final film will be a horror, are American Haunting, Saw, My Little Eye and Paranormal Activity.

11/02/10

Today's lesson consisted of editing our film. We cut and changed the length of our the clips in our film. This was quiet easy however learning how to use the software on the apple macs took some time.

We all took part in editing our film. tihs gave us an understanding of the editing prosses. I personaly found cuting the clips the most difficult as a mistake could make the whole film wrong.

08/02/10

For this lesson we started filming our preliminary exercises. We began with shoot the shots in order. However found this did not work as some shots took longer to film. This made our timing wrong for each shot. Learning from this we decided to film the last sequences first as they were the most tedious. They also needed an empty room, as we filmed our sots in the college pool room, it was difficult to ensure the room would be unoccupied.

To solve this we filmed whenever we had the chance. When people were in the set we made sure they were silent, to ensure a quality scene.

04/01/10

In our lesson today we began filming by capturing simple shots given to us by our teacher. We collected shots of; people walking, high angles, low angles, over the shoulder shots and a short conversation.

First off we had to locate a suitable place to film our scenes. We had to check for continuity when changing the position of our camera. We also had to ensure that there was no background noise in the clips. For this we choose small, empty locations to capture our shots.

01/02/10

For this lesson we had a discussion a a class on the camera and their maintenance. We learnt how to ;
  • keep the cameras safe
  • keep the cameras clean
  • charge the camenrs
  • put away camer correctly

28/01/10

For our second lesson we started writing up our final story board and time sheet. A time sheet is new to our knowledge. We learnt that it keeps track of our shots and how long she should spend on each shot. This is a good method for time management.

After planning our time and story board we discussed the roles of ;
  • Camera Person
  • Girl
  • Boy
  • Boyfriend

After deciding our roles we began planning our setting and the angles for our shots.

25/01/10

In today's lesson we started our story boards for the preliminary exercise. We decided on a Blind Date theme for our shot film. Shots we are using are;
  • Shot Revers Shot
  • Close Ups
  • Long Shot
  • Panning Shot
  • Mid Shot

We must also display a steady hand when controlling the camera. Another important rule we learnt about was the 180degree rule. This is where the invisible line stops the camera from making the shot seem reversed.
